The accolade covers a broad spectrum of medical services at the 953-bed Grady Memorial Hospital, specifically highlighting excellence in stroke care, kidney failure treatment, and respiratory conditions like COPD. To earn this rating, the hospital had to outperform national benchmarks in survival rates and patient outcomes, a hurdle that fewer than half of the 4,500 evaluated facilities managed to clear this year.

Anthony Saul, president and COO of Grady, attributed the achievement to the consistent efforts of the hospital’s clinical staff. According to Ben Harder, managing editor at U.S. News, the rating serves as a critical indicator for families navigating difficult healthcare decisions, providing a reliable baseline for quality. As Atlanta’s primary safety-net provider and Level I trauma center, the system remains a central pillar for regional care, operating specialized facilities such as the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center and the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.
