While much of the communications industry has focused on optimizing brand visibility within AI search environments, MMC is shifting its attention to how AI interprets the culture surrounding a brand. The agency’s new methodology moves beyond traditional social listening by using large language models to synthesize relationships across public data, providing strategists with a clearer view of why specific narratives gain momentum.
CEO Olga Fleming noted that as business and culture become increasingly interconnected, the ability to recognize change early is a critical competitive advantage. The agency stress-tested the tool during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, analyzing how fanbases grew. The data revealed that teams like Scotland and Japan outperformed others not through field victories, but by fostering inclusive rituals and shareable community lore. Scotland’s presence in AI-generated discourse rose 49 percentage points, illustrating how digital participation can outpace traditional sports pedigree.
