CVS Health Expands Weight Loss Access With $29 Virtual Consults

CVS Health is overhauling its weight management program to simplify access to GLP-1 medications through a new partnership with Eli Lilly and reduced clinical fees. By integrating digital consultations with its national network of 9,000 pharmacies, the company aims to remove the administrative barriers currently complicating obesity treatment for patients.

CVS Health Expands Weight Loss Access With $29 Virtual Consults

Starting now, patients can access MinuteClinic virtual weight loss consultations for $29, a flat fee that requires no recurring membership or monthly subscriptions. This digital-first entry point connects users with licensed clinicians who evaluate health history and treatment eligibility. If prescribed, patients can fill their GLP-1 medications—including both oral and injectable options—at any local CVS Pharmacy, where pharmacists are available for in-person support.

A central component of this rollout is a strategic collaboration with Eli Lilly. By early fourth quarter of 2026, the CVS Health app will display transparent pricing for Zepbound and Foundayo, allowing users to compare insurance-reimbursed costs against cash-pay options for same-day pickup. This initiative addresses the fragmented nature of the current market, where consumers often struggle to navigate prior authorizations and varying discount programs.

To further reduce financial hurdles, CVS Pharmacy is actively participating in the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program through the end of 2027, capping costs for eligible beneficiaries at $50 per month. For non-insured patients, the company facilitates the use of manufacturer vouchers and discount cards, which can bring out-of-pocket costs for qualifying medications down to $149. Sid Tenneti, Senior Vice President at CVS Health, noted that the model is designed to provide a more connected experience by merging clinical oversight, digital transparency, and the accessibility of local pharmacy staff.
