Solventum Plans Health Information Systems Spin-Off Amid Growth

MedTech firm Solventum announced its intent to separate its Health Information Systems business as part of a broader portfolio optimization strategy. The move accompanies a strong second-quarter performance, with organic sales rising 9.5% and the company raising its full-year guidance for earnings and cash flow.

Solventum Plans Health Information Systems Spin-Off Amid Growth

The Eagan, Minnesota-based company reported second-quarter sales of $2.2 billion, a 2.2% increase on a reported basis. CEO Bryan Hanson attributed the results to strong execution across all reportable segments, noting that the growth includes benefits from advance orders placed ahead of ERP system cutovers. While GAAP diluted earnings per share landed at $0.53, adjusted diluted earnings per share reached $2.55, representing a 50.9% increase compared to the previous year.

Following these results, management raised its full-year 2026 outlook. The company now expects organic sales growth between 2.5% and 3.0%, while the adjusted EPS guidance has been lifted to a range of $7.10 to $7.20. Free cash flow projections were also increased to between $200 million and $300 million. The planned separation of the Health Information Systems unit is designed to allow both the remaining MedTech operations and the spun-off segment to pursue distinct innovation priorities as independent entities.
