1800 Tequila Unveils Mono Laberinto Doble by Pedro Friedeberg

With only 50 pieces available globally, 1800 Tequila has released its latest Colección series expression, Mono Laberinto Doble. The Extra Añejo tequila comes in a bespoke nickel decanter designed by the late Mexican surrealist Pedro Friedeberg, serving as a final tribute to his profound influence on contemporary art.

The decanter features intricate geometric motifs and layered lines, mirroring the architectural inspiration that defined Friedeberg’s career. By housing the Extra Añejo spirit in this sculptural vessel, the brand reinforces its commitment to Mexican heritage, echoing the Mayan pyramid geometry of its signature bottle. Each purchase includes an official art certificate to verify the decanter’s status as a limited-edition collectible.

Patrick Charpenel, Executive Director of El Museo del Barrio, described the project as a testament to the intersection of imagination and identity. The partnership holds deep personal weight, as this was among the last projects completed by the artist before his passing. The liquid itself, crafted from 100% blue Weber agave from the Tequila Valley, undergoes aging for at least three years in a blend of American and French oak casks, resulting in a profile marked by notes of honey, prune, and vanilla. Collectors can acquire the $11,000 release directly through the brand’s website, while the collaboration is further documented in the Assouline publication, The Art of Tequila: Spirit of Mexico.
