Tourists at Efteling are now commuting via self-driving technology following the August 12 launch of a Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK shuttle. The vehicle operates on a six-kilometer route in the Netherlands, marking a significant expansion for the Turkish manufacturer's Level-4 autonomous transit systems within European public spaces.
Accessibility remains a core component of the initiative, with the service provided free of charge and designed to accommodate passengers with disabilities. The project represents a broad collaboration between Karsan, Arriva, the Province of North Brabant, and several technology partners including Applied Autonomy and ADASTEC. Local authorities and transport operators finalized the official launch on August 10, signaling a shift toward testing autonomous mobility in complex, high-traffic environments.
