A massive infusion of infrastructure capital is headed to the American Southeast, where Swedish construction giant Skanska has finalized a $1.2 billion agreement to build four specialized data centers. The project, slated for completion in 2028, significantly bolsters the firm’s third-quarter order book for 2026.

The contract covers the construction of 75,000 square meters of high-tech space, encompassing both the structural shells and the intricate interior fit-outs required for technical operations, support zones, and office facilities. By securing this deal with an existing client, Skanska deepens its footprint in the burgeoning U.S. data storage market.

Work is scheduled to break ground in the third quarter of 2026. The two-year construction timeline targets a final delivery by the same quarter in 2028, reflecting the accelerated pace common in current data infrastructure development. This order, valued at approximately 11.2 billion Swedish kronor, represents a major expansion of the company’s regional portfolio.
