Ceretone and Easter Seals Houston Pilot Direct-to-Consumer Hearing Tech

On August 18 and 19, a group of Houston seniors received complimentary Ceretone Core One Pro hearing aids, marking a collaborative effort to demystify over-the-counter hearing technology. The initiative, held in partnership with Easter Seals Greater Houston, Catholic Charities, and AmeriCorps Seniors, aims to bridge the gap between innovation and accessibility.

Participants were invited to test the devices in a supportive environment, providing granular feedback on the unboxing process, physical fit, and day-to-day sound quality. For many, this event served as a first-time introduction to hearing assistance technology, an area where adoption often lags due to user hesitation. By embedding the trial within trusted community networks, organizers sought to identify the specific barriers that prevent seniors from integrating these tools into their daily routines.

Janelle Batman-Hinds, Director of Product Marketing at Ceretone, emphasized that the data collected will serve as a foundational roadmap for future research and development. The goal is to simplify the user experience and ensure that product evolution is dictated by the actual needs of the aging population. Curt Harrison, CEO of Easter Seals Greater Houston, noted that these sessions are designed to foster long-term independence, allowing seniors to engage more fully with their communities through improved communication and confidence in digital health tools.
