The legal sector has long struggled with opaque referral workflows, where significant revenue streams often suffer from manual reconciliation and a lack of administrative oversight. By embedding payment infrastructure directly into the case management lifecycle, Xchange Pay allows firms to link disbursements to specific case files. This integration aims to replace traditional mail-based check systems with electronic transfers that provide immediate financial visibility.

Case Xchange Automates Legal Referrals with New Payment Integration
After processing over 125,000 referrals in its first year, Philadelphia-based Case Xchange is moving to eliminate the industry’s reliance on paper checks. The company announced the launch of Xchange Pay, a digital disbursement tool developed with Confido Legal to automate fee tracking and ensure compliance within the attorney-to-attorney referral market.

Shawn Lehocky, CEO of Case Xchange, noted that the platform was designed to prevent referral earnings from falling through administrative cracks. The partnership with Confido Legal provides the necessary architecture for this shift, specifically addressing IOLTA compliance and ABA standards. According to Confido Legal CEO Emery Wager, the goal is to ensure that every payment arrives with clear context, removing the ambiguity that currently plagues many firm accounting departments. The companies will detail these new workflows during a webinar scheduled for October 7, 2026.
