Benchmark Mineral Intelligence has released its latest price assessment for essential electric vehicle battery materials, with Lithium Carbonate currently trading at $20,700 per metric ton in the Chinese market. The data underscores the current valuation of the world's most critical green-energy supply chain components.

China EV Battery Metal Prices Stabilize as Lithium Hits $20,700

The latest pricing from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence reveals a narrow margin between key lithium grades. Lithium Carbonate (>=99.2% Li2CO3) is valued at $20,700 per metric ton, while Lithium Hydroxide maintains a slight premium at $20,950. These weekly updates provide essential transparency for automakers and refiners operating within China’s dominant battery manufacturing ecosystem.

Supply Chain Valuation Benchmarks

In the cathode material segment, Cobalt Sulphate prices settled at $14,065 per metric ton, according to the report. Nickel Sulphate, which is assessed bi-weekly, is currently priced at $4,568 per metric ton. These figures represent the mid-prices for materials essential to high-nickel and LFP battery chemistries alike.

    • Lithium Carbonate (>=99.2%): $20,700
    • Lithium Hydroxide (>=56.5%): $20,950
    • Cobalt Sulphate (>20.5%): $14,065
    • Nickel Sulphate (>22%): $4,568
    • Flake Graphite (-100 Mesh): $413
The report also notes that Flake Graphite, a primary anode component, is trading at $413 per metric ton on an FOB China basis. While lithium and cobalt markets remain subject to weekly volatility, graphite prices are updated monthly, reflecting the different liquidity and contract structures found in the carbon materials market.
