China’s Manufacturing Pivot at the 2026 World Convention

More than 900 companies have converged at the Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center, filling the halls with over 10,000 exhibits. The convention highlights a transition from traditional scale-based manufacturing to high-tech clusters. Key displays include a 180-qubit superconducting quantum processor and the Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak, reinforcing a national pivot toward fusion energy and advanced materials.

The exhibition is structured around complex value chains rather than isolated gadgets. In the smart mining sector, T.SPEC and Tangxing Technology utilize detailed 3D models to map the entire lifecycle of excavation and shaft maintenance. Similarly, the automotive zone connects the dots between semiconductor production, battery development, and chassis engineering. Anhui province remains a central figure in this shift, reporting the production of over 2 million vehicles in the first seven months of 2026, with electric models accounting for more than half of that output. Beyond heavy industry, the event showcases practical tech applications, such as millimeter-wave radar systems capable of detecting elderly falls across 50,000 care facilities.
