Air Force Veteran Gordon Charles MacLean Debuts The Awake Code

After watching his commercial real estate career collapse during the 2009 financial crisis, Northeast Florida native and U.S. Air Force veteran Gordon Charles MacLean turned his survival strategy into a manual for intentional living. His debut book, The Awake Code, codifies the principles he used to rebuild his life.

Air Force Veteran Gordon Charles MacLean Debuts The Awake Code

The book outlines 39 rules designed to pull professionals and veterans out of what the author describes as a state of sleepwalking. Drawing on his tenure with the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, where he supported U-2 intelligence operations, MacLean focuses on discipline and resilience rather than abstract motivation. Each chapter pairs personal anecdotes from his three decades in real estate with actionable steps intended to foster self-awareness and meaningful connection.

Beyond the text, MacLean is launching The Awake Society to serve as a hub for those seeking to apply these principles in real-time. By returning to Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach for the launch, the author reconnects with the region where he first began his career, from early days in local restaurant kitchens to his enlistment. The project targets individuals navigating major life transitions, offering a framework for those looking to trade distraction for purpose.
