Kimi Räikkönen trades the driver's seat for a mentor's role

Formula 1 champion Kimi Räikkönen has swapped his high-speed cockpit for a mechanic’s tools, shifting his focus from personal podiums to guiding his son Robin’s budding racing career. This transition serves as the centerpiece of a new global brand campaign for the Finnish smart access company iLOQ.

The campaign, titled "The Next Generation Is Coming," explores the evolving dynamic between the retired racing icon and his son. Rather than relying on the data-heavy analytics common in modern motorsport, Räikkönen is prioritizing a hands-on, instinctive approach. He emphasizes the importance of independent learning, allowing Robin to navigate the track's challenges on his own terms. "I enjoy doing the mechanic work and supporting him, but I always give him his own option," Räikkönen stated, noting that he prefers his son to figure out the correct lines rather than relying on computer-driven feedback.

For iLOQ, the partnership highlights the brand's shift from purely technical security solutions to a broader message about empowerment. Board member Heikki Hiltunen noted that the collaboration aligns with the company’s values of integrity and perseverance. By moving away from the star athlete's past achievements, the campaign focuses on the long-term process of skill development and the freedom required for the next generation to forge their own paths.
