The South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to maintain its millage rate at 0.0805, holding the levy at the lowest level in the district's recorded history. This decision preserves the benchmark set last year, following a decade and a half of consistent tax reductions for local residents.
President and CEO Shane Strum noted that the organization’s financial discipline allows for these improvements without shifting the burden onto taxpayers. The approved millage rate is expected to generate approximately $8.3 million in gross revenue. After accounting for discounts and statutory obligations, these funds are earmarked for specific governmental requirements, including the Broward County Medicaid Match Program and community redevelopment contributions. Notably, no property tax revenue supports the system's uncompensated care, which remains fully covered by operational earnings.
