Toyota Electrified Sales Surge as Quarterly Volume Holds Steady

Toyota Motor North America reported a sharp 37.8 percent jump in electrified vehicle sales for September 2026, reaching 117,215 units. While overall quarterly volume remained largely flat with a 0.6 percent increase, the company’s heavy push into hybrid and battery-electric models now accounts for over half of its total sales mix.

Toyota Electrified Sales Surge as Quarterly Volume Holds Steady

The automotive giant moved 201,306 vehicles in September, marking an 8.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. For the third quarter, the company recorded 633,223 total sales. The Toyota division achieved a record-high electrification mix of 61 percent, underscoring the success of its 32 available electrified options across the Toyota and Lexus brands.

Andrew Gilleland, senior vice president of Automotive Operations at Toyota Motor North America, attributed the results to a customer-focused "multi-path" strategy. By balancing affordability with a wide range of electrified powertrains, the company aims to maintain momentum as it moves into the final quarter of the year. Lexus saw a particularly strong September, with sales rising 11.4 percent, while the company maintains some of the lowest incentive levels among full-line manufacturers.
