Meta Opens Muse AI to Custom Hardware Builders

Meta is moving its Muse AI agent beyond the screen by releasing an open-source framework for developers to create custom hardware. By providing firmware and a Linux SDK, the company invites users to integrate the AI into physical devices like e-ink displays and specialized smart home controllers.

Meta Opens Muse AI to Custom Hardware Builders

The initiative, dubbed Muse Gadgets, allows hobbyists to connect the AI to standard boards like Raspberry Pi or ESP32. This hardware can interact with sensors, buttons, and actuators, effectively turning the AI into a physical interface for home automation or personalized computing. To demonstrate the potential, Meta developed a USB-C device called Muse Home Link, which bridges the AI to local smart networks, including speakers and televisions.

Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, confirmed the company produced 5,000 Home Link units to distribute among Muse subscribers. This project complements Meta’s broader push to embed its intelligence into enterprise ecosystems, following the recent launch of Muse for Small Business and the Meta Enterprise Platform, which connect the agent to productivity tools such as Slack, Shopify, and Dropbox.
