Teen founder Zach Yadegari raises $10M for new AI startup Persona

After selling his calorie-tracking app to MyFitnessPal, 19-year-old entrepreneur Zach Yadegari has secured $10 million in venture funding for his next venture, Persona. The startup aims to consolidate fragmented mobile tasks into a single AI assistant, supported by both a software interface and a dedicated $179 wearable hardware device.

Vine Ventures led the seed round, with participation from Z Fellows founder Cory Levy and Collective Global. Persona distinguishes itself from ambient recording devices by requiring manual activation—either via a physical button or a gesture—to trigger the assistant. While the startup plans to release its wearable band in December, a beta version is currently live, allowing users to interact with the assistant through iMessage.

Privacy remains a central pillar of the company's pitch. Yadegari notes that the AI model operates in the cloud rather than on-device, utilizing end-to-end encryption to secure user data. Despite this focus on privacy, the company’s business model includes a revenue stream from sponsored product recommendations integrated into the assistant’s shopping research. The founder claims these results remain unbiased because the AI selects items based on user preferences without distinguishing between paid and organic listings. With thousands of beta users already on board, Yadegari envisions a future where individual utility apps are replaced by proactive agents capable of managing travel, payments, and daily logistics.
