Sørensen joins the firm with three decades of experience, most recently serving as Vice President of Investor Relations and Communications at Bavarian Nordic. His background in navigating capital markets is expected to be a primary asset as TETRAPHARM balances its internal R&D pipeline with its ZYNDIKATE® drug delivery platform and CDMO services. Board Chair Søren Maarssø cited Sørensen’s ability to turn scientific potential into sustainable business priorities as the core reason for his appointment.

Rolf Sass Sørensen takes the helm at TETRAPHARM
After eight years of building the Copenhagen-based biotech from the ground up, founders Martin Rose and Jesper Breum are stepping back from operations. Their successor, veteran life sciences executive Rolf Sass Sørensen, takes over as CEO on October 6, 2026, to steer the company through its next phase of commercial growth.

While Rose and Breum are departing to pursue new ventures, both remain significant shareholders in the company. The transition arrives at a critical juncture for the firm, which is currently advancing several novel drug candidates through preclinical trials. Sørensen has signaled that his immediate focus will be on tightening execution and expanding the partnerships that utilize the company’s proprietary formulation technology for challenging, poorly water-soluble molecules.
