Airbnb is launching its largest-ever incentive program, offering a $750 bonus to first-time hosts in the 16 cities slated to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The initiative seeks to bolster housing supply as the short-term rental platform reports a massive spike in travel interest ahead of the global tournament.

Airbnb to Pay $750 Bonus to New Hosts in World Cup Cities

The short-term rental giant is aggressively expanding its inventory ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, introducing what it describes as its most significant host incentive to date. Under the new program, first-time hosts who list an entire home in one of the tournament's 16 host cities can receive a one-time $750 payment. To qualify for the bonus, which is paid in addition to standard rental income, the property must be listed and the first guest stay completed by July 31, 2026.

The Financial Opportunity for Residents

The push comes as travel interest reaches a fever pitch. Airbnb data indicates that searches for accommodations in host cities have jumped approximately 80% year-over-year. Beyond the company's direct incentive, the financial upside for local residents remains substantial. According to a Deloitte analysis cited by Airbnb, hosts could earn an average of $3,000 by renting out their spaces during the tournament window.

"There's truly never been a better time to become a host on Airbnb," stated Chief Business Officer Dave Stephenson, highlighting the platform's strategy to secure inventory before peak demand hits. The program reflects a broader industry trend of platforms competing for supply in markets bracing for massive, short-term influxes of international visitors.
