Market Benchmarks for Battery Materials
The latest figures from BMI highlight the pricing landscape for essential cathode and anode materials sourced and processed within China. Lithium Hydroxide is currently quoted at $21,100 per metric ton, while Cobalt Sulphate—a key ingredient for high-energy-density batteries—is priced at $14,210. These mid-prices serve as a critical barometer for manufacturers navigating the transition to cleaner transportation.
Beyond lithium and cobalt, other base metal derivatives show varied pricing structures. Nickel Sulphate is holding at $4,568 per metric ton, while Flake Graphite, essential for battery anodes, is currently valued at $413 per metric ton on an FOB China basis. These figures underscore the cost pressures facing battery producers as they attempt to balance raw material procurement with consumer affordability.
