Eli Lilly Reports Long-Term Success for Crohn’s Therapy Omvoh

Eli Lilly Reports Long-Term Success for Crohn’s Therapy Omvoh

New Phase 3 clinical data indicates that 90% of patients who achieved steroid-free remission at the one-year mark maintained that control through three years of treatment. This level of durability is particularly significant for patients with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease, who frequently face a cycle of temporary improvements followed by painful relapses.

Reducing Clinical Complications

The data further revealed that patients treated with Omvoh experienced minimal rates of hospitalizations and surgeries. This trend was consistent across the two major types of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), suggesting the therapy effectively addresses the root causes of chronic inflammation rather than just masking symptoms.

Adrienne Brown, president of Lilly Immunology, stated that many IBD patients fail to achieve lasting remission, which leaves them vulnerable to cumulative damage. According to Brown, the long-term results show promise in preventing the emergency interventions often required when the disease is poorly managed.

To date, the therapy has received regulatory approvals in 47 countries for the treatment of both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The latest results strengthen the company's position in the competitive immunology market as it seeks to provide more stable, long-term options for chronic disease management.
