The upcoming AI assistant leverages a creator’s existing Instagram data—including view counts and retention metrics—to suggest trending audio and content concepts. By embedding these generative tools directly into the workflow, Meta aims to eliminate the need for third-party brainstorming software while encouraging more frequent posting. The company also confirmed a desktop version is in development, promising seamless syncing between mobile and desktop to accommodate more complex editing sessions.

Meta Expands Edits App with AI Assistant and Desktop Support
Meta is aggressively scaling its video-editing app, Edits, by introducing a desktop interface and an integrated AI assistant. Unveiled at a Los Angeles creator event, the move signals a direct push to capture the professional-grade editing market currently dominated by rivals like ByteDance’s CapCut.

Alongside these future tools, Meta is deploying immediate updates, including a Beta tab for experimental features and deeper audience analytics. Creators can now access detailed demographic breakdowns and specific engagement times, building on existing performance metrics. While Meta has not disclosed total user figures, it reports that content produced via Edits currently enjoys a 10% higher save rate and a 2% higher reshare rate than standard uploads. More than half of all daily Reels views now feature content created through the app.
