The Bunia facility began operations on Sunday, staffed by a specialized team of doctors and nurses. A second site in Nyankunde is scheduled to open Monday morning, significantly bolstering the region's infectious disease treatment capacity. Samaritan's Purse Deploys Ebola Treatment Centers to Ituri Province
Nearly 90% of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo are concentrated in the Ituri Province, prompting Samaritan's Purse to launch two emergency field hospitals. These facilities in Bunia and Nyankunde aim to isolate patients and provide urgent care as the viral outbreak continues to climb.

Franklin Graham, president of the North Carolina-based organization, emphasized the necessity of isolating the sick to curb transmission. Beyond patient care, the response team of 65 personnel is implementing hygiene training and has installed dozens of handwashing stations. The organization is also airlifting tons of personal protective equipment to safeguard local healthcare providers and mission hospital partners. This deployment builds on the group's historical work in the region, including their 2018 response in the DRC and the 2014 efforts in Liberia, where they provided preventative education to over 1.6 million people.
