MDA Space subsidiary 49North secures C$3.7M drone intelligence deal

The deal with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems marks a significant expansion for 49North, which serves as a primary Canadian integrator for the government’s remotely piloted aircraft program. This new infrastructure supports the deployment of 11 MQ-9B drones currently being supplied to the Canadian military. By facilitating real-time information exchange, the database allows Canadian commanders to synchronize operations with allied forces without compromising oversight of classified material.

This agreement builds upon a previously established C$74.4 million contract held by the firm, further cementing its position within the country’s defense-technology supply chain. As the integration process moves forward, the database functions as the technological backbone for Canada’s commitment to interoperability within the alliance.
