The new product, branded as Sol-Mid, utilizes a unique blend of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and grease. Daicel’s DURAST POM serves as a critical chemical interlayer, ensuring compatibility between these materials and allowing for a consistent, solid form. This design allows the lubricant to be packaged in portable sticks or custom-molded shapes tailored to specific mechanical requirements.

Beyond portability, the stick format offers a clear efficiency advantage. In office equipment maintenance, the technology can reduce conventional oil consumption by nearly 80%. Daicel achieved the necessary material precision through a proprietary manufacturing process that creates particles with a uniform, sharp distribution—a feat previously considered difficult with standard grinding methods.
