Eforthink Deploys Centimeter-Level UWB Indoor Navigation

Centimeter-level indoor positioning is moving beyond specialized hardware as Eforthink launches a UWB-based navigation system for standard smartphones. By utilizing downlink architecture, the Chengdu-based firm enables high-precision tracking across iOS and Android devices, effectively turning mobile handsets into primary navigation tools for airports, hospitals, and major exhibition centers.

The system relies on a downlink Time Difference of Arrival (DL-TDoA) architecture, where smartphones process signals from localized anchors to calculate their own position in real time. This approach removes the requirement for dedicated tracking tags, allowing for high-density scalability in crowded venues while maintaining data privacy by keeping positioning calculations on the device.

Beyond consumer-facing wayfinding, the platform offers venue operators a suite of spatial intelligence tools. These include visitor flow analytics, dwell-time statistics, and emergency guidance systems, which integrate into existing management platforms via SDKs and APIs. Eforthink is currently positioning the technology for global implementation, targeting partnerships with map providers and facility managers to standardize indoor location services across retail hubs and transportation centers.
