XCMG Targets Central Asian Mining Shift with Electric Fleet

Chairman Yang Dongsheng presented the company’s integrated green equipment portfolio at the 16th Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress, emphasizing a shift from traditional diesel machinery to sustainable, smart alternatives. XCMG is betting on a model that combines on-site technical customization with a long-term local presence, moving beyond simple equipment supply to full-lifecycle infrastructure management.

Evidence of this strategy is visible in the Karaganda Region, where customized transport units outperformed design standards by 12 percent despite extreme climate conditions and high-abrasion ore. Meanwhile, at the Pustynnoye gold mine, XCMG has deployed pure electric loaders that sustain up to 20 hours of continuous operation. These machines serve as a pilot for the company's broader push into unmanned, full-scenario electrification across Kazakhstan, a market it has occupied since 2001.

With over 40,000 units exported to the country to date, the manufacturer is leveraging its Almaty-based subsidiary to manage the complexities of maintenance, training, and specialized logistics. This infrastructure allows XCMG to integrate its hardware directly into the operational workflows of local mining enterprises, positioning its technology as the primary driver for regional productivity gains.
