According to new research from smart lighting brand Govee, 53% of U.S. soccer fans now prefer the living room as their primary match-day venue. The trend is fueled by economic realities, with 75% of respondents citing the prohibitive costs of tickets, parking, and travel as factors that have diminished the appeal of attending live sporting events. Rather than spending a significant budget on a single ticket, 67% of fans would rather invest in upgrading their home entertainment systems.
While home viewing offers superior control, many fans still crave the visceral intensity of a live crowd. This desire to bridge the gap between domestic comfort and stadium energy is spurring a boom in immersive technology. Nearly 70% of viewers agree that sophisticated lighting and sound are essential to replicating the adrenaline of a stadium, with 68% believing the right technology can make at-home viewing just as exhilarating as being in the stands.
