The project follows the 2025 launch of the 500MW Ras Ghareb facility, currently the largest wind farm in Africa. By leveraging the technical infrastructure established during that initial venture, the companies aim to streamline the development of Amunet II. This second phase reinforces the strategic alliance between the two firms, focusing on large-scale renewable deployment to meet Egypt's growing demand for a diversified power grid.

Envision Energy and AMEA Power Scale Egypt Wind Capacity to 1GW
At the Africa Energy Forum in Cape Town, Envision Energy and AMEA Power confirmed a deal to develop the 500MW Amunet II wind farm in Egypt. This expansion marks a significant step for the partners, doubling their combined wind footprint in the country to a total capacity of 1 gigawatt.

Kane Xu, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy, highlighted that the partnership is built on long-term value creation rather than isolated infrastructure deals. Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, noted that the project underscores growing confidence in Egypt’s renewable sector. Beyond energy generation, these developments are intended to drive local economic growth and provide a sustainable framework for the wider MENA region’s transition toward clean energy.
