The certification marks a shift in how display performance is measured, moving beyond theoretical peak luminance or color gamut to evaluate how panels handle real-world content. Intertek’s assessment confirmed that LG Display’s OLED panels achieve 100% color accuracy, 100% brightness accuracy, and total freedom from color crosstalk. These metrics ensure that images remain consistent regardless of test pattern size or ambient lighting, effectively solving the light leakage issues inherent in backlight-dependent LCD systems.

LG Display OLED Panels Secure Industry-First Accuracy Certification
LG Display has become the first manufacturer to receive Intertek’s "Perfect Color/Brightness Accuracy up to 500 lux" certification for its large-sized OLED panels. This milestone validates that the company's self-emissive display technology maintains color and brightness fidelity across diverse viewing conditions, outperforming traditional LCD alternatives in rigorous testing.

Unlike LCD displays, which rely on zone-based backlighting that can result in color distortion and diminished brightness during high dynamic range sequences, LG Display utilizes pixel dimming technology. By allowing millions of individual pixels to emit light independently, the panels prevent interference between adjacent areas. Hyeon-woo Lee, head of the Large Display Business Unit, noted that the certification provides objective proof that OLED maintains visual integrity in everyday environments. The company intends to leverage these findings to define the standard for premium picture quality in the global market.
