commercetools Launches AI-Driven Tools to Slash Commerce Build Times

Enterprise commerce projects that once required months of development are now moving to production in days. Boston-based commercetools has introduced two new offerings, commercetools for Builders and Commerce Integration Layer, designed to replace lengthy implementation cycles with AI-native workflows and streamlined third-party system connectivity.

The platform, built on the company’s API-native Sphere infrastructure, enables teams to generate storefronts, catalogs, and checkout experiences using natural language prompts. By integrating with AI development tools like Claude Code, v0, and Cursor, the system allows founders and developers to bypass traditional project planning, shifting the focus from manual coding to rapid deployment.

Accelerating Digital Infrastructure

Beyond rapid development, the Commerce Integration Layer addresses the technical friction of connecting commerce platforms to tax, search, and content services. By centralizing this logic, the tool aims to reduce the overhead that typically forces teams to rebuild integration frameworks for every new project. Founder Dirk Hoerig stated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to collapse the timeline of enterprise commerce launches from months to a matter of weeks. While the Builders suite is available immediately, the integration layer is slated for release later this year.
