The new hardware ditches the traditional Ray-Ban or Oakley aesthetics in favor of Meta’s own house styling. The collection debuts with three distinct frame models: the rectangular Meta Adventurer, the boxier Meta Fury, and a slim oval design created in collaboration with model Kylie Jenner. While the devices lack integrated displays, they rely on built-in cameras and speakers to bridge the digital and physical worlds.

Meta Launches Proprietary Smart Glasses Starting at $299
Stepping out from behind the Ray-Ban brand, Meta has unveiled a new line of proprietary smart glasses starting at $299. The move marks a strategic shift for the tech giant, which currently commands over 80% of the smart eyewear market alongside manufacturing partner EssilorLuxottica, as it aggressively expands its wearable hardware ecosystem.

Functionality centers on the Meta AI assistant, accessible via a customizable hardware button. The glasses are designed to handle tasks ranging from processing visual information to providing real-time data on sports or local recommendations. Meta promises eight hours of battery life per charge, with an additional 40 hours of power stored in the included carrying case. Upcoming software updates will introduce pedestrian navigation and expand live translation capabilities to 14 new languages, including Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi, and Korean. This launch arrives just one week after Snap revealed its own high-end consumer glasses, which carry a significantly higher price tag of $2,195.
