Boeing Secures $2 Billion Air Force Satellite Contract

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a contract valued at up to $2 billion to expand the military's communications infrastructure. The deal, won after a competitive bidding process, tasks the aerospace giant with engineering and delivering two Mobile User Objective System satellites to bolster secure tactical communications.

Boeing will oversee the entire lifecycle of the new units, covering design, development, and rigorous testing phases. The Defense Department confirmed that the company secured the award by outperforming a rival bidder. While the total ceiling for the project reaches $2 billion, the immediate investment is set at $204 million to cover preliminary research and development throughout the current fiscal year.

The technical operations will be centered in El Segundo, California. With a delivery window stretching toward the end of the next decade, the project is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2035.
