The MS150-IR, a specialized version of Mlink’s existing chipset family, is designed to integrate seamlessly with Iridium's constellation of 66 cross-linked low Earth orbit satellites. By utilizing this infrastructure, the chipset aims to provide low-power IoT connectivity for sectors including asset tracking, logistics, and remote infrastructure monitoring, effectively bypassing the limitations of terrestrial coverage.

Mlink Begins Live Testing of IoT-NTN Chipset on Iridium Network
Mlink Technology has moved its MS150-IR chipset into live, over-the-air testing using the Iridium NTN Direct service. This milestone marks a significant step in expanding the ecosystem for 3GPP standards-based satellite connectivity, with both companies aiming for commercial certification and product availability by the end of 2026.

Tim Last, Executive Vice President at Iridium, noted that the transition from laboratory environments to orbit-based validation signals the technical maturity of the platform. Mlink, which has also released a reference design kit to assist manufacturers in product development, views the collaboration as a primary path to delivering efficient satellite communication globally. The companies expect the final certification process to conclude later this year, further diversifying the hardware options available for mobile network operators and device manufacturers looking to leverage standards-compliant satellite links.
