Centerview Partners Leads Vault's 2026 Investment Banking Rankings

Centerview Partners has secured the top spot in Vault’s 2026 rankings for the best investment bank to work for, outperforming larger industry giants. The boutique firm’s rise to the number one position reflects a growing industry preference for closer-knit corporate cultures and earlier exposure to senior-level responsibilities.

The rankings, derived from a survey of roughly 2,100 banking professionals, highlight a distinct shift in priorities across seniority levels. While analysts prioritize firm culture and prestige, associates lean toward compensation. Centerview, which manages fewer than 1,000 employees, topped categories including firm culture and quality of work. This stands in stark contrast to Goldman Sachs, which retains the title of the industry’s most prestigious employer despite managing a workforce of over 40,000.

Evercore claimed the second spot for overall satisfaction, while Moelis & Company, Morgan Stanley, and Lazard rounded out the top five. Vault’s research underscores that boutique firms are increasingly competitive against traditional bulge bracket banks by offering unique benefits and direct access to high-profile dealmaking, such as Centerview’s current advisory role on the $110 billion Paramount and Warner Brothers Discovery acquisition.
