Hosted by the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute at St. David's Medical Center, the event drew specialists from across the globe, including practitioners from Italy, Brazil, and Belgium. While 200 attendees participated on-site, the majority joined remotely to observe live procedures broadcast from the center’s specialized electrophysiology labs. The curriculum focused on hands-on education, bridging the gap between theoretical research and clinical application for physicians and allied health professionals.
Dr. Andrea Natale, executive medical director of TCAI and the conference director, noted that the record attendance underscores a global appetite for case-based collaboration. Central to the two-day program were demonstrations of advanced procedural techniques, such as combining atrial fibrillation ablation with left atrial appendage occlusion to lower stroke risk in a single session. Surgeons also spotlighted pulsed field ablation, a method utilizing short-duration electrical pulses to neutralize erratic heart tissue without the thermal risks associated with traditional heat or cold-based tools.
