Frontera Energy Completes Infrastructure Pivot with Q2 Profit

Frontera Energy Corporation has finalized its corporate transformation into a dedicated infrastructure firm, reporting $29 million in net income for the second quarter of 2026. The shift followed a major capital return of C$590 million to shareholders, leaving the company with a streamlined focus on its Colombian port and pipeline assets.

The Calgary-based firm posted an 18% year-over-year increase in Adjusted EBITDA, reaching $30.5 million for the quarter. This growth was anchored by record-breaking activity at the Puerto Bahía port in Cartagena, which handled 48,074 roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) units. Performance was further bolstered by steady cash flow from a 35% stake in the ODL pipeline, a critical artery for Colombia’s oil production.

Following the restructuring, management is now prioritizing capital discipline. The company lowered its net debt to Adjusted EBITDA ratio to 0.98x, down from 1.33x in the first quarter of 2026. Looking ahead, the company is advancing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification project at Puerto Bahía, supported by a take-or-pay agreement with Ecopetrol. Frontera expects to reach its first gas milestone early next year, marking the next stage in its strategy to integrate energy logistics and storage capacity.
