Harbinger, established in 2022 by veterans from Canoo, Anduril, and Quantumscape, has moved rapidly from prototype to active production. The company’s strategy focuses on a standardized medium-duty electric chassis, a streamlined approach that has already yielded 53 vehicle deliveries to FedEx following an earlier funding partnership. FedEx previously spearheaded a $160 million Series C round for the startup late last year.

FedEx Commits $300 Million to Harbinger Electric Truck Fleet
FedEx has finalized an agreement to purchase 2,000 electric commercial trucks from Los Angeles-based startup Harbinger, a move valued at $300 million. This bulk order, slated for completion by the end of next year, solidifies the shipping giant’s role as the primary backer of the young vehicle manufacturer.

While the FedEx contract represents a significant milestone, Harbinger is actively diversifying its business model beyond commercial delivery fleets. The company recently entered the hybrid emergency vehicle market, acquired an autonomous driving firm, and began marketing its proprietary battery packs for stationary energy storage. Reports also suggest the manufacturer is exploring potential defense applications and considering an initial public offering to sustain its aggressive growth.
