Mysk Al Wadi Jeddah Hotel Turns to Penetron for Red Sea Protection

Jeddah’s Obhur district welcomed the Mysk Al Wadi Jeddah Hotel this September, marking the brand’s debut in Saudi Arabia. To counter the challenges of a high-water-table environment and the corrosive, chloride-rich air of the Red Sea, the project utilized advanced crystalline waterproofing across its subterranean concrete foundations.

The four-star, 90-room property sits mere steps from the Jeddah Corniche, a prime location that necessitated specialized engineering to ensure long-term structural integrity. General contractor Faraj Abdulkarim Est faced significant excavation depth, which exposed the foundation to constant groundwater pressure. Sam Annous, Managing Director of Penetron Saudi Arabia, noted that the site’s proximity to the coast made resilience against saltwater infiltration a non-negotiable priority for the development.

To secure the structure, crews treated over 2,000 cubic meters of concrete with PENETRON ADMIX. The admixture functions through a catalytic reaction that generates a non-soluble crystalline network within the concrete’s pores, effectively blocking moisture from any direction. Beyond the raft foundation and retaining walls, the team installed PENEBAR SW-45A waterstop strips to permanently seal critical construction joints. The hotel now operates with a full suite of amenities, including a rooftop pool and fitness center, supported by a substructure designed to withstand the harsh coastal environment.
